Project summary:
I designed a poster to visualize information about the trees on Wheaton College’s campus, aiming to raise awareness. Using color and typography, the poster presents the information in a simple, accessible way.
Through online research, I learned that Wheaton, along with many other colleges, spends thousands on a special fungicide to keep American elm trees healthy.
The next step for me was taking a picture of one of the trees at wheaton and posterizing it black and white.

I used Photoshop’s AI generation tool to create fake roots, inspired by my research, which revealed that the fungicide is pumped directly into the roots and gradually spreads throughout the tree over the course of a day. I posterized that as well before cropping it all into one image.

next step was to show the fungicide and add text to the image explaining what was happening to the tree.

I wasn’t completely satisfied with how I visually represented the fungicide in the tree, so I added a pump connecting the barrel to the roots with green lines to better illustrate the process.

this ended up being my final iteration, but there’s definitly things i would’ve still changed. I would’ve changed the green color to be more consistent through the image. and I would’ve made the title more clear, because as it stands, it looks visually cluttered. I’d accomplish that by moving the title below the branch with the short paragraph.
